IT SOFTWARE APPS CLOUD NEWS EVENTS

insider threats

Microsoft Teams and other cloud services supported by Microsoft Azure were down for the majority of Monday, March 15th, due to an Azure Active Directory issue. Many users reported being unable to access their Teams accounts, along with Office, Exchange Online, Yammer, and Xbox Live.

The worldwide outage has been linked to a recent change to an authentication system, according to the Microsoft 365 Status Twitter account. The company started rolling back the change immediately which has taken longer than expected. A software patch was rolled out shortly after and the error rate is continuing to drop.

Hundreds of Twitter users have expressed their frustration with the systems being down as many rely on Microsoft cloud services for access to work and school. Users also complained about the assumed lack of testing and poor change management practices within the company. Large-scale outages have been affecting Microsoft’s 115 million daily active users almost monthly.
